Our workshops & events are designed around new digital "fluencies" emerging in teaching, research, and learning. Fluency implies mastery and effortlessness in acting within a community; literacy emphasizes individual skill. Both are necessary. Digital fluencies focus on basic competencies for research skills, media literacy, digital pedagogy, publishing, data literacy, and digital research methods. Library Lounge is a Canvas-integrated library instructional service that prepares students to excel as researchers.  Our team works directly with faculty and librarians to deliver video tutorials and opportunities for personal exchange between librarians and students in their Canvas course site, all of which are customized for class research assignments.  Library Lounge puts instruction in the critical path of students who may not realize they can benefit from librarians’ expertise, and who will make strategic decisions about selecting, evaluating, citing, and producing published works.  For more information, contact

PennImmersive is a new initiative launched in support of Penn’s Year of Innovation to engage the campus in a year-long, public research project to explore the potential of virtual reality, augmented reality, and 3D modeling in teaching, learning, and research.  Penn students and faculty are already using these tools, and the Penn Libraries have staff expertise, technologies, and spaces for these purposes.
